Lake

Silver
Lake
sits at the heart of the Silver Lake Homes Association (SLHA). It is a horseshoe-shaped lake approximately 53 acres in size (that’s approximately 2,309,000 square feet!). The dam that creates Silver Lake was completed in 1962 and has a state registered height of 30 feet. The majority of Silver Lake itself is shallower than 6 feet in depth but there are areas adjacent to the dam that go as deep as approximately 20+ feet. Silver Lake is a private lake for residents and accompanied guests only. This lake is designated for boating and fishing only. Boats are only allowed to operate trolling motors on this lake. There is a No Swimming, No Diving, No Ice Skating policy effective for the entire lake. The lake offers 3 primary accesses:

  • One at the northeastern corner by the club house, tennis court, and playground. Currently, this area also provides small boat storage with locking blocks for security. There is a parking lot available at this location.
  •  One at the dam side (southwest) of the lake. This can be accessed from W. Lucy Webb Road. This access is locked and does require a key. Keys may be signed out from the office. The keys are yours to keep as long as you are a member of the SLHA. Keys must be returned when you relinquish you SLHA membership. Lost keys must be paid for. We do request that you keep this access point locked even while you are using the area. Via this access point you can access a small boat launch area and a small floating fishing dock. Parking is available at this site.
  • One smaller access is located on the Northwestern tip of the lake adjacent to S. Silvertop Lane and Johnston Drive. There is only street parking available in this area.

According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, fish species in Silver Lake include:

  • Largemouth Bass
  • Bluegill
  • Crappie
  • Channel Catfish
  • Redear Sunfish
  • Green Sunfish
  • Golden Shiners
  • Asian Grass Carp
  • Largemouth Bass

Additionally, Sliver Lake also provides a home for Snapping Turtles, Crayfish, Water Snails, and a small variety of snakes. So be aware of your surroundings!

Tennis Court

The Silver lake Homes Association (SLHA) has two tennis courts located adjacent to our club house, swimming pool, and playground facilities. The tennis courts have just recently been resurfaced, remarked, and they are in peak condition! We ask that the tennis courts be used only for playing tennis. Bicycles, skateboards, and the likes are not allowed inside the tennis courts. There are lights available for night play. The lights are currently operated on a 4 hour timer. Please use the lights only for playing tennis. These lights cost money to operate and your association dues pay the bill – please be energy efficient and turn off the lights when you are done. Keys for the tennis court are available from the office. When you check out the key it is yours to keep as long as you are a member of SLHA. When you sell your home you must return all keys checked out. There is a fee for all lost keys.

Playground

The playground is located behind the clubhouse, on the northeast side of the lake. It consists of several slides of varying twists and turns, as well as a swingset with 3 regular swings, and one swing for small children. There are also several toys for climbing in, on, and around. You may use the clubhouse parking lot when visiting the playground. Trash receptacles are located in the picnic area, just behind the playground. Playground hours are from dusk to dawn daily, weather permitting.
